Personal Backgrounds

		Richard Laird, Managing Partner Rik has over 30 years of healthcare experience, holding executive positions with hospitals, large multi-specialty group practices, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and healthcare consulting. He has been personally involved with national and international recruitment of healthcare professionals throughout his career and has worked for over six years in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and the Philippines performing various engagements related to the healthcare industry. Rik holds a Masters Degree in Health Administration from University of Michigan.
		Larry Bortles, Managing Partner Larry, with over 30 years of international business experience, is based in Metro Manila. His primary business there has been the formation and management of a company that creates websites with exceptional client functionality. His commitment to the B&L program, with its’ requirement for the very best client communication that the internet can offer, is essential to the services that we offer. Larry holds a MBA Degree from Harvard.

Geographical Locations and Functions

Our physical presence in the Philippines and the United States greatly enhances our ability to recruit the appropriate candidates for our clients, maintain proper government relationships with both countries and provide timely communications about the progress of each candidate as they prepare to work in the USA.

Bortles & Laird is a Pennsylvania LLC, located in Pittsburgh. Rik manages this office, is responsible for marketing, client relations, green card/visa processing and the resettlement of the Filipino healthcare professionals in the client communities.

Larry Bortles lives in Makati, Philippines, and has established our office there. Larry is responsible for government relationships in the Philippines, the selection of healthcare professionals to be considered by our clients; for arranging client interviews with potential candidates; and for the preparation of the selected candidates for taking the clinical and English examinations required for green card processing and state licensure.
