How can we justify paying such a high cost for nurses from the Philippines?

Healthcare organizations need to think about the cost of recruiting international nurses as an investment for the future.

There are a number of considerations to be made when thinking about the cost of recruiting Filipino nurses. First, the institution can open additional beds and/or increase the number of admissions. Dependent upon the types of patients and the management of their care, the international registered nurses will permit the hospital to generate new revenue and increase the bottom line.

Second, by hiring Filipino nurses, institutions can reduce the cost of agency nurses. Agency nurses cost at least twice the amount paid to the Filipino nurses.

Third, the current overtime paid to nurses to cover evening and week-shifts can be reduced.

And, fourth, the recruitment costs for local nurses along with the signing bonuses paid can be diverted to pay for the cost of recruiting international nurses.
